Mauch Chunk Estates is a 41 lot residential home sub-division in the Borough of Jim Thorpe. Lot sizes range from .90 acres to 5.40 acres with a majority of the lots being in and around 1.00 acres. There are no other sub-divisions available currently and no more will ever be available in the Borough of Jim Thorpe that are walking distance to downtown except for Mauch Chunk Estates.

The development boarders Lehighton Borough Water Authority property completely on 3 sides and partially on the fourth side which assures maximum privacy in the rear portion of the lot for homes built on the outer boarder of the sub-division. Lehighton Water Authority property also abuts approximately 650 acres of Jim Thorpe Water Authority property so the total Water Authority property having access from back doors of homes in the sub-division is approximately 1500 acres. Hiking, Mountain Biking, Hunting and Fishing are a few of the activities available through this open 1500 acres.

Mauch Chunk Estates is a conservation development in every sense possible in today’s need for ever expanding development. The 69+ acre site will have no more than 30% total disturbance of the site which includes roads and home-sites. The entire site is currently 100% wooded. Total well consumption of the 41 site sub-division will remove approximately 10,000 gallons per day (GPD) from the watershed with roof and road water infiltration re-charging approximately 90,000 GPD in normal rainfall situations and 60,000 GPD in drought situations. The development will be serviced by city sewer therefore household wastewater will be treated at the local City Municipal sewer plant and not on site.

The sub-division will have a Homeowners Association for the first 18-months after which time it will be maintained by the Borough of Jim Thorpe. All Borough services will be available from the inception of the development except for snow plowing. The snow plowing will be provided by the Association during the first 18-months of the sub-divisions history.

Views include Flagstaff Mountain, Pisgah Mountain, Broad Mountain and lastly Glen Onoko falls. Views vary per lot and time of year.

Lots will be available to purchase after May of 2008.
